Goodbeing – December 2018

This months Goodbeing box for me contained predominantly skincare items – perfect for winter when skin tends to get drier and needs more TLC!

Inside this months box:

-Bonnie Bubble Bath: A chamomile lavender bubble bath housed in a frosted glass bottle. The scent of this is super calming, perfect for unwinding at the end of a long day. This makes bubbles initially, but they aren’t super long lasting. That’s fine with me, as I tend to enjoy baths for aromatherapy rather than bubbles. I like that the first ingredient is aloe too because it’s so hydrating!

-Jivi Body Butter: I received the scent La Paloma, a light citrus fragrance grounded in a base of more woodsy notes. What’s special about this body butter is that it’s magnesium chloride infused to help relieve tired, achy muscles. It absorbs easily leaving a swath of hydration in it’s wake thanks to aloe, shea & mango butters. I can attest to the fact that it really does ease muscle tension overnight!

-URSA MAJOR Golden Hour Recovery Cream: Rich but lightweight, this cream packs a punch to hydrate stressed skin. No wonder I love it, it has seabuckthorn in it! Seabuckthorn is incredibly high in antioxidants like vitamin C, as well as omega fatty acids. This also contains calendula and rose to soothe, and black currant to help with skins elasticity. Sandalwood helps to tone (and is also great for acne, I might add). The overall scent is botanical, but not overpowering. This cream sinks in quickly so you don’t have to worry about a greasy residue.

-MyChelle Dermaceuticals Quick Clean Micellar Water: This is the first micellar water I’ve used since switching to clean beauty products and total honesty: it performs just the same as something more conventional. It wipes all traces of makeup and is gentle around the eyes. It also doesn’t leave my skin dry or tight. After scanning the ingredients and noticing strawberry and kiwi extracts, I expected a fruity fragrance. However, it hardly has any scent at all…if anything, it smells a little earthy.

-Uniful Beauty Vegan Mascara: This mascara has a classic teddy bear brush and creates a ‘your lashes but better’ finish. It adds more length than volume, and layers easily. It also is smudge resistant, but washes off clean with facewash (no tugging or pulling required to remove!) The color is an inky black which is my preference for mascara, not a soft charcoal finish. The first two ingredients are aloe and calendula which hydrate the lashes to reduce brittleness. Interestingly, the third ingredient is gotu kola extract. Curious, I looked up the benefits of gotu kola which include stimulating blood vessels and enhancing the growth of skin and hair as well as joint repair. My guess is that this will help lash length and volume over time! There are also several other extracts like lavender, rosemary which help with preventing hairloss.
