Goldfaden MD. Haul

Looking for some gifts ideas to get that glow this holiday season?

Meet Goldfaden MD, where nature and science collide. This line is developed by a dermatologist with over 40 years of experience utilizing the belief that effective skincare can exist without harsh ingredients and be environmentally conscious. Dr. Goldfaden created a line to mimic in office dermatological treatments using natural ingredients with a focus on targeting dullness, dryness, discoloration, textural issues, and aging. He is also a believer in starting skincare early as a preventative measure for skin concerns.

With my skin, I experience some dullness and dehydration, and as I’m approaching 30, I am definitely focusing on ways to preserve my youth! More specifically, my primary skin concerns are maintaining a smooth texture and keeping it  well hydrated. I have also always had dark circles under my eyes, so anything brightening calls my name.

The Doctors Scrub ($75) is a daily exfoliator formulated with ruby crystals which mimic microdermabrasion. I am personally a huge fan of microderm for smoothing out the texture of the skin as well as for brightening! Using a mechanical scrub like this one helps to remove dead skin cells which in turn allows products to penetrate deeper. The formula is super fine and surprisingly hydrating, so you don’t have to worry about this damaging or irritating the skin even with daily use. It utilizes seaweed extract and hyaluronic acid to firm the skin, and it has a light grapefruit scent. L-O-V-E. Even after one use, there’s an immediate difference; signs of dullness are instantly erased revealing baby-soft skin underneath! A little dab of this is all you need, and you don’t have to apply much pressure. Simply wet your fingertips and gently buff your face letting the product do the work! Something I noticed after a few uses: the residual post-acne marks on my cheeks were significantly lighter as well as experiencing fewer new blemishes popping up. Exfoliating helps to prevent new acne from forming by removing dead skin cells that could get trapped along with bacteria inside your pores! I love keeping this in my shower for easy access and use it 1-2x/week.

Focusing on prevention, I also got the Needle-Less Serum ($115) which helps smooth fine lines and makes the skin smooth. This formula, like the Doctors Scrub, also contains seaweed and hyaluronic acid to help firm the skin. The addition of a acetyl hexapeptide-3 acts like a non-invasive form of botox relaxing the little lines around the eyes and mouth. Because this is a concentrated formula, you only need a drop or two morning and night on targeted areas. The formula itself is a very lightweight gel that soaks in within 30 seconds or so. The great thing about this formula is that it doesn’t sting or itch the way some retinol based formulas can (great for sensitive skin like mine!) I noticed a difference after using it for a short amount of time; I can’t wait to see what the results will be after prolonged use!

On my never ending quest to find eye treatments that brighten up my undereye circles, I tried the Bright Eyes Cream.($55). It contains arnica which is soothing and hydrating as well as soy peptides to help depuff. Arnica has long been touted for alleviating bruising and speeding up healing, so applying it under the eyes is brilliant! The skin is thinner and oftentimes the blue and purple circles we see is the blood pooling underneath the surface. It also has apricot kernel oil, which is high in vitamin e, but it also contains a substantial amount of vitamin a (a.k.a. natural retinol!) This cream sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue the way some eye creams can, making it perfect for morning use underneath makeup as well as at night. Much like the Doctors Scrub, I noticed a difference in the brightness under my eyes in just a few days! I would describe the scent of this as very light and herbal.

I’m a huge fan of face oils, so I was dying to try Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil ($129). This particular facial oil is formulated with powerful hydrators that are chock full of omega fatty acids like baobab and kalahari oil. It also contains a variety of natural extracts like green tea extract which is high in antioxidants to help fight free radical damage, blue green algae which works to firm the skin, chickweed/milk thistle/slippery elm to soothe inflammation, marshmallow root to improve the skins natural barrier, and litsea fruit extract which helps to diminish the appearance of pores. I really love the dropper bottle; you’re able to perfectly dispense the right amount without overusing product or contaminating the bottle! What’s really amazing about this formula is that it’s a dry oil and it sinks in almost instantly and makes the skin glow from the inside out. You can also mix a drop or two in your regular moisturizer. I like to use this by itself in the mornings to hydrate because it isn’t heavy and then mixed into my heavier night products.
