Pour le Monde: For the World.
Ever on the hunt for natural fragrances, I stumbled upon Pour le Monde and was instantly captivated by their clean and elegant packaging. 3 clear bottles with pastel labels called out to me, and I wanted to know more. I received a sampler trio ($23) of their fragrances, and they are all unique – and completely different from each other. Something really special about this fragrance house is that 5% of each of their fragrance sales benefits a charity – Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Cancer Support Community, and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. All of their blends are also 100% natural from the grain alcohol to the raw essential oils that are sustainably sourced from around the world.
Starting with Empower – it is a very bright citrus based fragrance that’s grounded by the most dominant base note of cedar wood. The mid note of spearmint and basil also shine brightly as they’re very invigorating. It’s a very uplifting scent, perfect for someone who is energetic and on the go, or simply needing a pick me up kind of scent. This particular fragrance pulled very masculine on me; I personally gravitate towards something more floral, warm, and feminine. This is definitely a unisex fragrance: I can easily see both men and women loving this one! Fresh, clean, and a little bit woodsy.
The fragrance Together is a soft, sweet floral. This perfume is the most girly of the 3, and the floral middle notes really shine. The top notes are citrus, but much less overt than Empower; they don’t stick around very long. Diving into the middle notes : a blend of jasmine, violet, freesia, and lilac. It’s truly a delicate, beautiful blend of florals! The base is just warm and woodsy enough to anchor the middle notes without suffocating the fragrance. They’re comprised of a blend – vanilla, balsam, and just a splash of patchouli. Don’t be afraid of seeing patchouli in the mix – it definitely isn’t a strong, overpowering note. In my personal experience, a touch of patchouli is perfect for adding staying power to a fragrance. Not to mention, it adds an intriguing note when used sparingly! This perfume is delicate, timeless, classic.
Envision – this fragrance is a spicy, sweet floral. This perfume is really complex…one day it smelled much spicier on me and the next it was less spice, more floral. It really interacts with your body’s chemistry! I personally love that about natural fragrances. The citrus top notes dissipate quickly on me, and the pink peppercorn adds just the right touch of spice without being overkill. Then the really beautiful lavender and rose middle notes begin to bloom, and the warm base of frankincense, vanilla, and patchouli mingle in. I don’t find this fragrance to pull too strongly of patchouli on me, which patchouli often can. I personally find Envision to have the best sillage of the 3 and the longest wear time. I could happily bathe in this one. Alluring, enigmatic, captivating.
